MABEL: BIRTH STORY

  May 22, 2012

I met Jenna and Andy last year when I was about 6 months pregnant with Leo. Little did I know that Jenna was right behind me with her second pregnancy.

Last year I captured the birth of Addie and fell in love with labor/delivery photography. Moving into 2012 I wanted to venture out of lifestyle/wedding photography a bit and try something new…

Over the years I’ve followed a few photographers that specifically shoot birth photography. Everytime I would check out their photos I would tear up and immediately draw myself to the people in the pictures. I felt like I knew them… I felt their joy… Their excitement… And could relate to the pure love that was in their eyes when they were holding their new baby. THIS is what I love about photography. Capturing those authentic, real, and amazing moments in life.

I had the honor of capturing the VERY quick labor/delivery of Jenna and Andy’s daughter. Let’s just say there was not that much “laboring” because Jenna got to the hospital and pretty much starting pushing immediately.  I know I’ve only photographed two births but I ALWAYS start crying when the mom is pushing because I can relate to the excitement and anticipation that she is feeling getting ready to hold her baby for the first time. Seeing Jenna’s face when her daughter was put on her chest was priceless… I am so happy to have captured one of the best days of Jenna and Andy’s life.

Thank you, H. Family, for giving me the opportunity to be in the room while your beautiful daughter entered this world. It was such an honor and I am so blessed to have witnessed this beautiful miracle.

Happy Birthday, Mabel!

Here is a little video of the photos posted below… The song playing, “Sing for You” by Tracy Chapman, was the song I would play for Maxwell when he was a newborn. I found it fitting for this special moment… Enjoy!
