Half

  March 10, 2012

Nicole and I have been friends since we were 12. We’ve been side-by-side through the awkward years of Junior High and High School. We were college roomates. Nicole and Matt (her now husband) set Dan and I up in college. We were each others Maid-of-Honor. We now live 2 miles away from each other in the same town. I am the God Mother of her son, she is the God Mother of Maxwell. We have pretty much been right next to each other for every big milestone in life. I am blessed to have such a rare, special, once-in-a-lifetime friendship. Totally thankful for this woman.

Cheers to my very best friend, Nicole, as she goes through her second pregnancy. May the next 20 weeks be filled with many baby kicks, no morning sickness, and yummy cravings.

Love you!

SPRING MINI-SESSIONS

  February 26, 2012

2011

  January 26, 2012

Uuufda.  2011.  You were a good year for me and my photography.  I wrapped up my very first year as a photographer…  I still can’t believe I am so blessed to get to do this as my job.

I put together some of my favorite photos of 2011 (in no particular order).  Please ignore the random watermarks and the strange flow of the photos…  I have been running on no sleep for the past month and have a newborn in my arms.  ;)

Highlights…

  • Quit my 9-5 job to be a full-time momma and build my photography business
  • Launched my new website/blog/branding (thank you, Annie J.)
  • Took my first mini-workshop with a photographer I look up to.
  • Photographed in a beautiful Minneapolis photo studio for the Winter months
  • Booked my first wedding
  • Upgraded my camera to a Canon 5D Mark II and convinced my husband to let me purchase 3 additional brand-spanking new lenses for my pretty new camera.
  • Got published on Minnesota Bride Magazine and Wisconsin Bride Magazine blogs
  • Photographed my first wedding ever in June
  • Photographed 4 out of my 10 weddings in Wisconsin
  • Had one of my best friends along side me for all the weddings I photographed.  Alissa. you. are. the. best.
  • Photographed the labor/delivery of a good friend.  Game changer for me.
  • Figured out what I love shooting… And what I do not.  Decided that 2012 is going to be a time to specialize in what I love to do.
  • Worked with the best clients EVER.  Left every session with a big smile on my face and an excitement to get home to edit.
  • Had my first Fall Mini-Sessions at Lake Harriet
  • Shot my last wedding at 8 months pregnant
  • Shot 3-6 sessions per weekend in October at 8 months pregnant…  Not my smartest decision as a big, swollen pregnant lady.  ;)
  • Was a regular at Caribou Coffee on Saturday mornings before weddings
  • Met some freaking awesome people along the way.  Seriously. Blessed.

THANK YOU to all the people I worked with this past year.  You.  Are.  Amazing.

Labor/Delivery Photography

  January 17, 2012

Seeing a child enter the world is probably the most beautiful scene I will ever witness in life. Honestly, if I wasn’t a photographer I would go back to school to become a labor/delivery nurse or get certified as a doula. Words can’t describe the emotions in a room when a child is born. It is truly the most pure, real, and raw moment in life.

Besides having my own two babies I was able to photograph a birth last July (see slideshow below). It was something that touched my heart and soul and made me want to pursue labor/delivery photography even more.

For 2012 I am going to offer Labor and Delivery photography as well as newborn/lifestyle sessions at the hospital the day or day after your baby is born. I am in the process of searching for women who are expecting a baby anywhere from March 2012 to May 2012 for a complimentary session.

Please e-mail me at info@jenmeneghinphotography.com for full details.

Check out the slide-show of labor/delivery photos I took of baby Adilene this past Summer.
